I don’t understand why in our grocery and drug stores we still have antiquated, unproven “immune-building” supplements (garlic is good, and proven, but those Airborne and Emergen-C supplements, especially, annoy me in that they’re not proven to work).
Why doesn’t a pharmaceutical company step up and push scientifically proven, powerful immune-building compounds for over-the-counter indications?

Sirtris Pharma isn’t the only company working on sirtuin research; Elixir Pharma is too.
I wonder if, assuming these get approved, we’d need a prescription for them? After all, they are naturally occuring compounds, and they (thus far) don’t appear to have _any_ side-effects, though I can see the potential for abuse.
